5G Rollout

cavity6 (1)5G is spurring a revolution in connectivity that is driving the industry’s growth opportunity. At full speed, the 5G service promises to ten times faster the speed of 4G networks. But implementation of the faster high-band 5G cellphone service in the United States has not gone smoothly.

There is the potential that the C-Band 3.7-3.98 GHz spectrum could affect aircraft safety during low-visibility operations. According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the C-band spectrum is close to the frequencies used by key electronics that aircraft rely on to land safely. That means the 5G 3.7-3.98 GHz networks could disrupt aircraft operations when flying within a mile of a 5G tower with 3.7-3.98 GHz service.

Spectrum Control's Filter Solutions

band1Spectrum Control has a family of high-reliability cavity filters that can address this problem. We are joining with industry players to develop filter solutions to help solve the issue by leveraging our in-house filter engineering and manufacturing expertise.

Our robust RF filter technology can protect the current altimeter performance needed for aviation safety. Spectrum Control has a deep heritage in RF filter technology innovation along with expertise that is second to none.
